The key to saving in the New Year

This year seems like a very big year for me, leaving home, traveling and much more. It's fair to say by this time next year everything will have changed. Saving will be a large part of some of those things so here's my quick guide to saving.

The easiest way to save is to select a coin or note that you will not spend. some people save every fiver that they get or every 50p. Doing this gives you the freedom to spend whilst still saving. If you work in a hospitality job where you get tips, you could aim to save those instead.
if saving for something specific such as paying off your car insurance or a holiday and you know how much it costs, first you must figure out how long you have until it needs to be paid. You divide the cost over the number of weeks and see if taking this out of your weekly fund is reasonable. I find that braking a larger goal into multiple smaller ones seems much more achievable. for example I like to know that I have saved £30/£30 a week rather than £30 out of my £200 end goal.

Another think that aids saving is thinking through everything you buy. There have been many times where I have wished for something such as a new dress and have brought it for it to sit in my wardrobe for 2 years. There is figuratively an unused £50 note sitting in my wardrobe.
On that note I would recommend selling on any unused or unwanted items like that jumper your grandma purchased you 3 years ago but still remains 4 sizes too small.

Why say YES?

As I've said before, I want to grow into a person who tries more and I want to come out of my shell. So here are some of the things I tell myself when I want to say no.

1. I always ask myself 'if I say no to my friends are they going to do it anyways?' if yes I feel like I'm missing out on something, if no this upsets me because I don't want to stop them enjoying themselves. either way this makes me more inclined to say yes.

2. Even if I know a situation might make me feel uncomfortable or anxious, I know that if I say yes it will help me to progress and start to beat  my fears just by having a go.

3. Much like 1, you never know what you are missing by saying no. Be it good or bad, saying no means that there are countless things you could be missing out on.

4. Saying yes to something might end badly but it may also be the best thing you have ever done. Some opportunities only happen once so you should grab them whilst you can instead of spending years regretting it.

This week I've said yes to a random girls trip to London, something that terrifies me. I'd rather be there having a go than a bunch of my friends off having fun  without me.

New Year New Me?

I know that New Years resolutions are supposed to be made on January 1st and that most people find them complete and utter rubbish, but I'm here nearly in February realising just what they mean. I've never been one for resolutions or New Year in general but over the last week I've realised what little promises to yourself mean. Simple little things like 'I'm going to try and correctly take my makeup off rather than rubbing it in circles with a baby wipe' or 'whilst at work I'll try to drink water rather than my own body weight in Coca Cola.'. It's only the 24th of January and I already feel like I've achieved so much, even if to others it's nothing. I'm taking more me time and not the sort where you watch tv for hours on end, the sort where you actually relax like taking a long bath or  weirdly enough, knitting. A group of my friends and myself have planned a holiday for July and a spontaneous trip to London for valentines day. It's strange how some of these little things make you happy but they make all the difference.

This New Year

This sounds strange, next year I want to aim to live life as much as I can. I spend a lot of my time working especially over this busy time period and everything seems to clutter up. for example my handbag has the strangest of items in it.

This year I'm going to do what makes me happy, equally as much as in the previous year I aimed to try new things. That aim didn't go too badly as I ended up applying to university, something I've never seen my self doing.

so we'll see how this year turns out, and lets hope my life doesn't end up as cluttered as my handbag again.

Eylure brow kit

Recently I've been splurging on some little bits to treat me. One of these is the Eylure Pro-Brow dye kit in dark brow. Being naturally dark blonde, half of my eyebrows are great but the other half are basically invisible. Because of both this and dying my hair a whole shade darker I decided to start tinting them. I've always loved having dark thick eyebrows and dying them means that I don't have to fill them in as much.

This brow kit is very simple and easy, it is cost effective due to having up to 12 uses from just over £6, whereas at a salon it would cost double that each time.
If you either want fuller looking brows or are challenged in the brow department I would recommend giving this ago.

Revlon Colourstay Gel Envy

A couple of weeks ago I picked these up spur of the moment as they were on promotion on in boots. I've got to say for someone that gets a gel manicure by a technician every two weeks, these really rival it. Better still for the same price as a manicure I can get various colors that are easy to change with nail varnish remover . I've even tried the top coat over normal nail vanish and it seems to work just the same.

300 all in, diamond top coat, 500 ace of spades

on here I have ace of spades but it is a bit darker as I've painted over black false nails.

overall I really love these polishes and cant wait to see what they do next.

Until next time, stay beautiful
